FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is BTPS?

BTPS is a fast, online, process designed to indicate the presence of BT assets - buildings and significant infrastructure - in the UK.

We believe that it will be of particular benefit to residential and commercial developers, as it is intended to ensure that no disruption is caused either to our customers, or to those carrying out work in the vicinity of these assets.

For the location of network cables, etc, you should continue to use the Openreach website.

How does it work?

Simply enter the postcode of your site and your details as part of the registration process, pay the fee (£49 plus vat), and the result will be delivered to your email inbox within one working day.

Why should I use it?

  • to access our new, fast-track procedure, providing a single point of contact in BT to co-ordinate relevant teams and review proposals quickly with a view to facilitating developments by agreement
  • to avoid the cost, delay and inconvenience which will result where our assets are compromised

What happens next?

  • You will receive an email confirming whether or not BT has assets in the postcode sector you searched against
  • If we do, our fast-track process will be automatically engaged, and you will receive detailed instructions on how this works
